First Director

In 1930, Lev Borisovich Sunitsa was appointed director of SKISHM. One of the most important issues that the head of the young institute managed to resolve in full in an extremely short time was the issue of providing scientific personnel and qualified laboratory staff. His previous management experience played a decisive role: in 1923-1926, Sunitsa worked as vice-rector of the Ural-Siberian Communist University. The SKISHM team organized by Lev Sunitsa took an active part in the construction of an educational building and a dormitory on the territory adjacent to the Rostselmash plant.
